How to Choose a Good Free Wordpress Theme for Your Blog

There are tons of Wordpress themes out there. No doubt about it. Many of them have impressive look accompanied with lots of nifty features that makes some people, like me, reluctant to purchase a premium one. I don’t know how it is started, but I noticed that some of the good-looking free themes are called free premium themes. While I don’t really care about it, I noticed that nearly all of these so-called free premiums have a similarity that may harm our blog in the progress if we don’t careful enough.

The similarity is that these themes are sponsored. The links of the sponsors are usually put in the footer section of the theme. No, don’t get me wrong about this. If I make a damn cool theme, surely I want to look for sponsors to get some more money. The problem here is I see a lot of people picking up a theme without considering the link themes.

If you want to make a family blog, will you put adult links on it? If you have a finance blog, will you put health links on it? Adding a link that differs from the topic of your blog will probably harm the development of the blog in the future if you care about the PR of your blog.

Don’t delete the footer link if the theme maker doesn’t allow you to do so. You get the theme for nothing, so you should at least keep the footer link remains intact. If you want a theme that is free from sponsored links or even the maker’s link, then buy the premium ones.

If you still want to get a free one, then here you are what you can do. Don’t use a theme with footer links that doesn’t fit the topic of your blog.

Note: There are more and more on how to choose a good free Wordpress theme for your blog. For example, load the blog after you install the theme using different browsers to ensure that all are displayed well. Here I just want to remind others about the footer links.
